Unexpected friendship: A bulldog and a tortoise have a great time playing together in their hooman's backyard

Sometimes we look at two random people and wonder: how the heck did those two end up together? Well, it turns out, sometimes it happens the same with animals…

It's not unusual for people to form odd pairings. The two humans who are more different than day and night, who are complete opposites and you would never think of pairing them together, end up being the best of friends, or even the most wholesome couple. It's weird for us to see, because we start wondering, how did that happen? How is it that two polar opposites look so happy together? How do they make it work, and what do I have to do to get a relationship like that? Not that we are intentionally looking for people that are opposite to us; on the contrary. Most of the time, we look for people with a similar character or interests. What it means is that we all want to find a connection, whether it is romantic or just a friendship, that looks as pure and lovely as the ones we see out and about.

The thing with odd pairings is that they don't only happen between humans, no sir; they happen quite often in nature too! We know them as symbiotic relationships, when two very different species work together for mutual benefit, like bees and flowers, for instance. Bees get food from flowers, and flowers can keep growing because the bees pollinate them. Everybody is happy and healthy!

In this case, it's not so much a symbiotic relationship, but more like a symbiotic, wholesome friendship.

This bulldog and this tortoise are the pets of the same hooman, and even though at first one could think that they wouldn't get along, or that the dog might represent a danger to the tortoise, that could not be further from the truth! I don't know if I would go as far as to call it an actual symbiotic relationship (they are a bit more complicated than that), but they certainly get along and are a good source of entertainment for each other! And sometimes, that's enough to make the bond beautiful and adorable. I have no idea if living with dogs has some sort of biological benefit for tortoises, but what I sure do know is that these two are the best of friends, have so much fun together, and make each other happy.

It's hilarious to see them playing! Especially because things don't seem to be going quite as we expected. Bulldogs are strong dogs, and sometimes they even look like mini-tanks. They sure have made me trip once or twice when passing fast through my legs when I'm walking! But not this time, nope. The poor bulldog here seems to be losing a wrestling match he didn't know he was playing. That tortoise won't let herself be intimidated: she charges right at him with all her might and the power of her shell! And guess what, from this angle, she's winning! We love a strong girl who knows how to fend for herself.
